Something about me
My name is Linda and I operate a home-based business called “Jewelry by L.A. Wilson”. I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself and hope we can get acquainted as you browse my website to learn about my passion for creating.
I am located in Bangor, Pennsylvania and began my business in 2012. Many people ask how I got started crafting jewelry - I have always been inspired by jewelry and fashion. The two do go hand-in-hand. There is something about the right accessories and clothing to really make a statement. Along with those inspirations, I find ideas on Pinterest and U Tube videos and put my own spin on projects. Also I was pleased to have taken metal class at the Totts Gap Art Institute in Bangor PA. Photography and business Seminars at Northamption County Community College.
Another factor in my decision is the green factor – being ecologically responsible and making use of what is available so as not to add to the ever growing landfills.
To achieve this and to contribute to preserving the earth, I create jewelry by the up-cycle principle. To up-cycle you make use of something that has already been produced and give it a new life rather than discarding it.
I find materials in all sorts of places and bring them home and start the transformations. Old earrings, beads, jewelry finding are reinvented into new pieces. I also make use of wire wrapping and metal-worked items. Copper wire and copper sheet metal also become part of my designs. The end result is an original piece of jewelry and pride that I have spared the landfill of more disposable items.
As I endeavor to expand my business and sales, I have participated in craft shows including “Nazareth Day”, “Wind Gap Car Show”, and “Mt. Bethel Craft Show” and local fund raising events here in Pennsylvania. Craft shows and dates are listed on my Calendar page.
Currently I am not making my jewelry available in the retail stream. While I appreciate the possibilities of more sales, I am not concentrating on a high inventory volume, I am concentrating on fine quality at a good price and the freedom to create individual pieces. Perhaps one day I will take the plunge into retail sales but at this time I enjoy being a small business crafts person.
As a small business crafts person I will be advertising and selling via this web site. I happily accept payments through Paypal online payment system. I must say, though, it is a safe and secure way of transferring payments I have included shipping in the price which will make the shipping process go quicker.
My designs are one of a kind, but at this time I am not taking requests for custom projects as the process involves using items to be up-cycled and I do not always know what little treasures I may find to incorporate into my designs. One week I may come across many old jewelry finds to transform and the next week I may have an abundance of metals. That is the fun of creating and up-cycling!
Please continue to return to my site often there will always be new and different items available for purchase.
I also sell Lilla Rose Hair accessories I do not make these but the products are just beautiful and of great quality for more information click on the link above marked Lilla Rose
